Director

An experienced professional with over 15 years in the public health field, Deidre Sully has proven success in partnership building (linking both public and private entities), community outreach, and influencing policy change, as well as working with government elected officials. As Director of NYC Smoke-Free, Deidre works to end the devastating tobacco epidemic and protect the health of all New Yorkers through by expanding smoke-free protections for New York City. Ms. Sully oversees program budget and manages allocation of resources. She provides substantial strategic direction for program staff and determines priorities to meet program deliverables.  Prior to joining Public Health Solutions, Deidre helped to further knowledge of cancer treatments as a Research Specialist at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center – the world’s oldest and largest private cancer center – managing a multi-center Gastric Cancer Consortium which included nine major medical institutions nationwide. Deidre received her master’s degree in Public Health with a concentration in health policy and management from Boston University School of Public Health, and a bachelor’s degree from The University of Scranton. As a personal goal, she strives to ensure people have equal and equitable opportunities in health and wellness, and continues to cultivate her brand as the consummate public health advocate.

Robin Fleary

Program Coordinator

Robin Fleary is the Program Coordinator of NYC Smoke-Free at Public Health Solutions, where she works to end the devastating tobacco epidemic and protect the health of all New Yorkers through tobacco control policy, advocacy, and education. Prior to joining Public Health Solutions, she worked as Health Educator facilitating evidence based curriculum on sexual and reproductive health in NYC public schools. Robin attended Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus for both undergraduate and graduate study in which she received a Bachelor of Science in Health science and Biology and a Master of Public Health with a concentration in Health Promotion and Program Planning.

Research Fellow

Ariana Lee Beattie is the Policy and Research Fellow of NYC Smoke-Free at Public Health Solutions, where she works to end the devastating tobacco epidemic and protect the health of all New Yorkers through tobacco control policy, advocacy, and education. Prior to joining Public Health Solutions, Ariana has assisted with research on the social determinants of health, focusing on reproductive health at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and drug/alcohol addiction at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Ariana holds a Bachelor of Science in Community Health from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she contributed to research on consumer health technologies and international nutrition surveillance.

Bronx Community Engagement Manager

Guillermo Flores, Jr. is the Bronx Community Engagement Manager of NYC Smoke-Free at Public Health Solutions, where he works to end the devastating tobacco epidemic and protect the health of all New Yorkers through tobacco control policy, advocacy, and education. Prior to joining Public Health Solutions, he worked at the American Cancer Society, where he served as a Community Mission Manager and Director of Health Care Systems and Worksite Initiatives. He has also worked in institutions that serve communities in NYC declared “health crisis zones” by the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Born and reared in the Bronx, it is Guillermo’s professional and personal goal to help all Bronxites live longer, healthier lives.

Bronx Reality Check - Youth Engagement Manager

Vonetta Dudley is the Bronx Reality Check Youth Engagement Manager of NYC Smoke-Free at Public Health Solutions, where she works to end the devastating tobacco epidemic and protect the health of all New Yorkers through tobacco control policy, advocacy, and education. Prior to joining Public Health Solutions, she worked at Urban Health Plan, Inc. as the Health Educator for the adolescent outreach and education program. She functioned as the Fit for Life Program Coordinator, whose mission was to assist families in helping their child reach and maintain a healthy weight. She also served on the company’s Associate Health and Wellness Committee where she aided in implementing various work-site wellness programs. Vonetta’s goal has always been to teach community members how they can live longer and healthier lives by becoming advocates of their own health.

Julia Cuthbertson is the Brooklyn Community Engagement Manager of NYC Smoke-Free at Public Health Solutions, where she works to end the devastating tobacco epidemic and protect the health of all New Yorkers through tobacco control policy, advocacy, and education. Prior to joining Public Health Solutions, she worked on obesity prevention by increasing healthy food access as a consultant at the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and as the Social Media Strategist for With Food in Mind. Since 2010, she has also collaborated with NoFumadores.org, Spain’s leading tobacco control advocacy group.

Edric Robinson

Brooklyn Reality Check - Youth Engagement Manager

Edric Robinson is the Brooklyn Reality Check Youth Engagement Manager of NYC Smoke-Free at Public Health Solutions, where he works to end the devastating tobacco epidemic and protect the health of all New Yorkers through tobacco control policy, advocacy, and education. In this role, he works with the Reality Check program, a teen led initiative working across New York State, to expose the manipulative and deceptive marketing tactics of the tobacco industry. Among his significant previous positions, Edric served as a project coordinator at one of the nation’s leading cancer hospitals, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Edric holds a Bachelor of Science from Howard University and a Master of Science from Columbia University.

Manhattan Community Engagement Manager

Lisa Spitzner is the Manhattan Community Engagement Manager of NYC Smoke-Free at Public Health Solutions, where she works to end the devastating tobacco epidemic and protect the health of all New Yorkers through tobacco control policy, advocacy, and education. Prior to joining Public Health Solutions, she worked to strengthen tobacco prevention and clean air quality laws as Manager of Health Education and Public Policy for The American Lung Association of the Northeast. Lisa began her career in tobacco control with the New York State Department of Health, where she had the opportunity to involve young people in community action against tobacco use and foster meaningful youth led tobacco prevention activities.

Manhattan Reality Check - Youth Engagement Manager

Ayo Alli, M.S, is the Manhattan Reality Check Youth Engagement Manager of NYC Smoke-Free at Public Health Solutions, where he works to end the devastating tobacco epidemic and protect the health of all New Yorkers through tobacco control policy, advocacy, and education. Ayo joins Public Health Solutions, with experience in coordinating youth engagement and educational equality programs, outreach implementation in disaster recovery nonprofit organizations and a passion for eradicating the epidemic that tobacco smoke represents to a youthful demographic. He attended the University of Michigan for his undergraduate studies in Political Science and African-American studies, as well as a Master of Science in Information Policy.

Lawrence Saunders

Queens Community Engagement Manager

Lawrence Saunders is the Queens Community Engagement Manager where he works to end the devastating tobacco epidemic and protect the health of all New Yorkers through tobacco control policy, advocacy, and education.  He joins us with over 20 years of community engagement and government relations experience. Prior to joining Public Health Solutions, Lawrence led and collaborated in forging successful partnership alliances on projects with various elected officials, CBO, corporate, community and city agency leaders. Lawrence has a passion for standing up for the rights of others and has successfully advocated of behalf many. He has a well-rounded background in project management, customer service, program assessment and management. Lawrence has worked in corporate and non-profit organizations. He also served as Legislative and Budget Director at the NYC Council and is experienced with working with legislators on the city, state and federal level. Lawrence graduated summa cum laude from Medgar Evers College, with a Bachelor degree in Public Administration and he also has a Master’s degree in Theology.

Queens Reality Check - Youth Engagement Manager

Vanessa Yvon is the Queens Reality Check Youth Engagement Manager of NYC Smoke-Free at Public Health Solutions, where she works with youth advocates to end the devastating tobacco epidemic and protect the health of all New Yorkers through tobacco control policy, advocacy, and peer education. Prior to joining Public Health Solutions, she worked in Massachusetts with youth serving community based non-profit organizations and Boston Public Schools. Vanessa began her career in youth programming and development as a part of Boston's citywide "Go Green See Green" campaign, in an effort to educate members of local communities with the most effective strategies and tools to promote a green lifestyle.
