Smoke-Free Housing Map

Our work in smoke-free housing has led to increased smoke-free protections for New York City families. However, many neighborhoods still lack access to smoke-free housing. The map above demonstrates NYC Smoke-Free's work to ensure better health outcomes for families by increasing smoke-free housing units across New York City. NYC Smoke-Free can help you go smoke-free today! Contact your local borough office for guidance, technical assistance, and help with signage.

15 For 15

Since the launch of our Smoke-Free Housing campaign in 2009, NYC Smoke-Free has worked with buildings, tenants, landlords, and property managers to implement smoke-free protections for thousands of families. So far, we have helped over 14,000 units go smoke-free, impacting over 38,000 families. Over the last few years, we have focused on working with affordable housing properties to ensure that rent-burdened families have options to live smoke-free and not endure tobacco pollution in their homes.

March 2018 marks the 15th Anniversary of the implementation of the NYC Smoke-Free Air Act of 2002, when comprehensive tobacco control became a priority in New York City. To commemorate this historic occasion, NYC Smoke-Free has set a goal of making 15,000 housing units (apartments) smoke-free by March 2018 - 15 For 15!
