“Chalk the Walk” in St. George, Staten Island

NYC Smoke-Free student interns and Reality Check students participated in a “Chalk the Walk” event on Wednesday, August 9th, from 12pm-2pm at Empire Outlets near the St. George Ferry Station in St. George, Staten Island. The purpose of “Chalk the Walk” is to empower and engage RC youth and interns in spreading awareness about the dangers of smoking and vaping. By using colorful chalk messages, this type of event provides a creative platform for teens to share information/statistics, encouraging messages, and reasons to refrain from smoking and vaping. We wanted to foster a sense of unity and activism among the group—and it was a fun way for students to demonstrate their knowledge and share information with guests of Empire Outlets.
